Research

The Ontario Bariatric Network has a strong commitment to evidence-based research to study obesity and bariatric treatment through high-impact studies. Research conducted by over 100 researchers and scientists across the OBN continues to play pivotal role in better understanding obesity, the risks and benefits of bariatric surgery, medical treatment of bariatric patients, and identifying practices and health service areas that require optimization and improvement. Research conducted has been used to inform decision makers and direct policy on the optimal treatment and management of severe obesity to achieve the goal of more efficient patient treatment.

The OBN Research Task Force meets monthly to discuss current studies and new research ideas. The goal of the task force is to create a research collaborative to facilitate multi-centre trials to better understand obesity and obesity treatment.
